My teaching experience began while attending graduate school 30 years ago. I have been teaching consistently in my home studio and with the Liya Foundation Summer Music Camp for the past 6 years. At the Liya Summer Camp, I conduct private lessons, sectionals, and assist with orchestra rehearsals. I am a patient, fun loving violin instructor who believes in stretching a student's growth. In my teaching method, I am creating a custom plan for every single student. With beginner students, I am starting from the fundamentals and using books: Essential Elements, Suzuki Book 12, one and two octaves scales and etudes by Kreutzer, Wohlfahrt, and Mazas. For all of my students, I am always trying to find the repertoire that they would enjoy to practice. I have been teaching since 1984 and now I teach from my home studio. I am not trying to make my students the best in the world but I want them to love music. My students have accomplished many goals. They have all had the chance to perform in recitals. Some have won scholarships to private schools and colleges, gotten to perform at Disney World to record music for a movie soundtrack and have won top music awards from their high school graduations. The most rewarding thing about teaching for me is to see my students develop their own passion for music. In order for that to happen, it is crucial that each student moves and progresses at his or her own pace. Doing so would then allow realistic goal-setting, allowing both me and the students to acknowledge their accomplishments, thereby motivating them to learn more. Since then, I have been teaching more and more students both privately and in school setting. I have taught in Park School, The Friends School in Baltimore area, and Towson University preparatory music department, and currently I'm a faculty in McDonogh School Private Music department.
