For beginning students, young or older, I start my lesson by playing a piece for them on my violin. They can listen and observe how I play the violin and how it sounds to them. Then I show them how to hold bow and violin and feel comfortable with the instrument. After time, I gradually introduce music reading and usually use Applebaum's String Builder and Suzuki books. I always encourage listening to great historical violinists recordings to develop a sense of personality, style and tone in the students playing. Read More
