For beginning students, I incorporate Mimi Zweig's teaching philosophies as well as those from the Suzuki method. From there we build progressively according to the needs of the individual student. I generally follow the ASTA guidelines for recommended literature and progression. The pieces that students play in the beginning are important because they each teach an essential skill for string playing. I am a 22 year old mother of a 3 almost 4 year old! I have been a stay at home mom since COVID began but would love to get back into lessons. For beginners I use a method book for learning how to read music and learn music theory.  Once the basics are attained I introduce scales and etudes to build on the technical aspects of playing the instrument.  Solo books are also added to the repertoire for the student so that they can use everything they have learned thus far and express that in a piece of music. In 1979 I graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in Instrumental Secondary-Elementary Music specializing in Orchestral Music, Kirksville, Missouri.
