My teaching experience dates back to my student teaching experience in 1979 from Truman State University. From Truman State University I went on to teach public school Orchestra in Helena, Montana, Kansas City, Missouri area, Marshall, Missouri, Kirksville, Missouri, and finally to Fulton, Missouri. I have a total teaching experience of 37 years in both the public school setting and in my private studio. For beginning students, I incorporate Mimi Zweig's teaching philosophies as well as those from the Suzuki method. From there we build progressively according to the needs of the individual student. I generally follow the ASTA guidelines for recommended literature and progression. The pieces that students play in the beginning are important because they each teach an essential skill for string playing.
