Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, and I use other books to supplement scales/technique. I used to use the Suzuki method but mostly I used formal classical method. Although, I always fit my lessons depending of each student's needs and/or requests. Personally I like the classical method because I also teach my students music theory if needed as well as historical facts to understand the music better. I am very flexible with the students I work with. Depending on how you learn best, I will adapt to your needs. I can teach through the use of books (such as the Suzuki Method, John Thompson, etc) but I am also an advocate for learning by ear, transcribing and chord charts. When students start on their instrument I encourage the parents to be part of the lesson so they can help and encourage practicing at home.
