My teaching experience is quite varied. I've taught young children as a member of Mimi Zweig's pedagogy classes, and I currently teach group classes to 3rd-5th graders here in NYC. I've taught chamber music to teenagers in Indiana University's Summer String Academy and to adult learners in Montreal. I encourage regular practice and strong fundamentals, but I also sincerely think that although there are many ways to teach and to learn, the best ways always are enjoyable. Read More

For very beginning students, I usually start with the Suzuki Method Books and All For Strings Comprehensive String Method Books. I usually encourage my students to read music, but for the youngest students I start by playing with them and having them copy me. Once they are ready, I start teaching them basic music theory that will help them read music. For intermediate to advanced players I institute a routine of practicing scales and etudes as well as a solo piece that is appropriate for their ability level. Read More

I started playing the piano at age 3 and the violin at age 12. I have always been involved in the perfomring arts. I have been teaching for over 25 years. I started teaching when I was in high school. I went to The King's College and majored in Music Education. I have also performed throughout the US and Europe. Right after my college graduation I went to study music and art and concertized through out Italy and Switzerland. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with introducing into base elements of music theory. From that point I try to determine the level of perception of music and coordination of movements with the instrument by the student. After determining the level of perception, I begin to develop an individual training program for each student. Thus, I select the optimal learning conditions and productivity of classes with my students, depending on their individual qualities. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
For beginning students who are children, I typically begin by introducing them to the various parts of the instrument, along with the basics of technique and position. New notes and concepts would be introduced through learning familiar songs and pieces. All parents are encouraged to attend their child's violin lessons so that they can aid practice sessions. For adults, I try to find out what the student is most interested in learning, and devise a plan with the student accordingly in order to keep the lessons engaging and fun. Read More

I am a 25 year old graduate of Manhattan School of Music, studying with Karen Ritscher. I attended the last two years of high school at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where I studied with David Holland, and moved on to do my undergraduate degree at Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Carol Rodland. I recently won a job with the Glens Falls Symphony in upstate NY and have performed as principal/first stand of various orchestras. Read More

I have been teaching independently since 2004, with experience in classical, Celtic fiddle, bluegrass, rock and improvisation. In addition to private lessons, I have assisted with classes from elementary through high school level at various schools. I plan customized lessons and work with students individually to achieve goals. I like to form real relationships with my students and still stay in touch with students I have not taught for years! It is very rewarding to me to help students find their own voices in music, and I try to provide the tools they will need to be successful in whichever style/field of music they are drawn to.
