. I began teaching private lessons and tutoring students in harmony and ear training nine years ago. Since then, I have also taught lessons to brass player, as well as music theory, ear training, composition, and improvisation, to pupils of all levels and ages. I have also directed sectionals for brass and woodwind players in youth wind ensembles. Some of my specific experience includes coordinating youth ensemble programming, teaching group and private lessons, developing and implementing curriculum, teaching general music, using music software and technology to enrich the learning process, instructing a bilingual classroom of Spanish and English speakers. My experience as a performer is headlined by my 12 week tour as a trombonist with the show "Blast! the Music of Disney" in Japan. I have also, in the state of Iowa, played with a number groups including churches, rock bands, New Orleans style brass bands, British style brass bands, symphonic bands, symphony orchestras, chamber groups, and musical theater pit orchestras. For younger students, I typically assist and follow the method books students are working on. For example, they may use Standards of Excellence or Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. These lesson books are crucial to teaching the fundamentals as a student is beginning to learn an instrument. I will break away from the books and introduce appropriate solo repertoire.
