I'm a quietly passionate instructor motivated by my love of music and my students. In 2016, I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Minor in Music. As an undergrad, I often found my love of music creeping into my major coursework-- including my thesis! I've loved practicing and performing for over a decade (which is also more than half of my life!). From receiving my very first "Band Student of the Month" award in the fifth grade to helping soon-to-be-fifth graders achieve that goal themselves, I cannot express how much I love this instrument and the opportunities it has provided. I have been fortunate enough in my young career to have performed across the world in countries including the U.S., Sweden, Germany, England, Scotland, and Canada. I have even had the opportunity to tour to NYC with the Eastman Philharmonia and Renee Fleming to Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center. During my time as a freelancer in London and Boston, I have performed with a variety of ensembles ranging from brass bands, mixed brass ensembles, chamber orchestra, contemporary chamber ensembles, and full orchestra. I am not a fan of "rote learning" so my lessons tend to include a large amount of cognitive thinking by me constantly asking questions and making you pay attention to your own playing habits. One of the biggest mistakes I notice younger players make is getting into a groove and not listening to what they're playing. Read More

I was fortunate in my junior year in high school to be asked by my high school band director if I would teach a beginning trumpet student of his. I took on the challenge, and I quickly discovered that I enjoyed teaching and seeing students grow from what I taught. I continued teaching students throughout my years in college and after. I have a couple philosophies that help me personalize lessons for students and direct them to their ambitions. Read More
