Featured Springfield gardens Trumpet Teachers

Daniel B

Instruments:

As early as I can remember, music has been a passionate focal point in my life. As a child I remember rushing home to study scores and spending all my time learning everything I could about as much music as possible. I started studying jazz trumpet at the San Antonio School of Jazz before being accepted at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy to study classical composition.  I have been blessed to have had incredibly generous teachers throughout my development as a professional musician and as a result I have gained a great passion for teaching. Teaching is something that is a core part of my life and the joy that I get from sharing music cannot be measured.

Richard J

Instruments:

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students of all ages and skill levels. I studied at the prestigious Hartt School of Music for two years as a music education major while studying clarinet with Alan R. Kay. I then tranferred to NYU for my last two years of undergraduate study in music technology. I have been teaching private lessons in Manhattan's Lower East Side since 2010 and am currently part of the Music Educator's Workshop at Carnegie Hall.

Ron C

Instruments:

Although most of my playing experience has been with rock bands, big bands and weddings, I have a B.A. in classical performance/music education from William Paterson University. Most of my private study has been with Dave Larson of the New Jersey Symphony and Dave Rogers, a William Paterson jazz adjunct. My classroom career began at the Passaic County Elks' Cerebral Palsy Center in Clifton, NJ, and in 2001 I moved to my present position as Elementary Music Teacher in Middlesex, NJ.  I love to play blues on my trumpet, but my latest passion is learning finger-picking on guitar.

Peter G

Instruments:

Hi! My name is Peter and I love to play, compose and teach music. In 2013, I graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Certificate in Jazz Performance. And in 2014, I completed a Masters of Music in Jazz Trombone from Stony Brook University while studying with Ray Anderson. I have over 7 years of experience teaching students of all ages, and over 10 years of experience playing in symphonic orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber orchestras, big bands, and jazz combos. I'm currently living in South Setauket, NY where I'm pursuing a D.M.A. and actively participating in the local music scene.

Chris B

Instruments:

Welcome to Mr. B's studio!  I am a twelve year veteran instrumental music teacher who truly loves educating young musicians.  I have performed and taught all over the country as a trombonist and educator.  Some of my career highlights include performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Tales & Scales Inc., Ray Charles and his orchestra, as well as working with numerous orchestras, chamber ensembles, and jazz ensembles in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  My biggest joy comes from my students achieving new heights in their own playing.

More Information About Trumpet Lessons

Pieces of the trumpet are as follows: the rim, the cup, the mouthpiece, the shank, the leadpipe, the valve pistons, and the valve casings. Before purchasing the instrument, be sure the pieces are all in good condition, and ask an expert to verify. Be sure to have a budget in mind, as prices for trumpets can vary widely. A lot of students will rent the instrument before purchasing. Many will choose to bring their own mouthpiece for when they are trying out trumpets.
In home trumpet lessons offer a convenient option for learning to play the instrument for most students. The lessons will be structured the same way as in-studio lessons and will generally be once a week.
Each student will have a custom lesson plan created for them by their instructor. Our teachers will generally recommend specific method books that students can purchase for use in their lessons. Students will learn how to read music, how to sight read, musicianship skills, and the specific skills needed to play the trumpet and support the sound.
We love adult students! We have adults who begin trumpet lessons as complete beginners, some who haven't played their trumpet in over 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. Our teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
Children are recommended to start the trumpet at age 7 or 8. A student needs to be able to hold and support the weight of the instrument for extended periods, and also have enough lung capacity to support the sound.
