Featured Springfield gardens Trumpet Teachers

Daniel B

Instruments:

As early as I can remember, music has been a passionate focal point in my life. As a child I remember rushing home to study scores and spending all my time learning everything I could about as much music as possible. I started studying jazz trumpet at the San Antonio School of Jazz before being accepted at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy to study classical composition.  I have been blessed to have had incredibly generous teachers throughout my development as a professional musician and as a result I have gained a great passion for teaching. Teaching is something that is a core part of my life and the joy that I get from sharing music cannot be measured.

Jamison S

Instruments:

Jamie is a teacher, guitarist, singer/songwriter, saxophonist, and composing pianist.  His teaching career began at the age of fourteen, as a volunteer in the Songcatchers, Inc. program, teaching saxophone and piano to underprivileged children in New Rochelle, NY.  While completing his undergraduate education, Jamie continued to participate in Wind Symphony and Spacecataz, his own rock band, while teaching privately in Rochester, NY and Westchester County, NY.  In 2007 he completed an eight month internship in Artist Media and Marketing at Island Def Jam Music Group/Universal in Manhattan.  During the second half of his senior year at Rochester, he single handedly designed, produced, and taught the General Music Program for K-10 at Cornerstone Academy in Brockport, NY.  Following this, he completed an independent study on the modern music industry, and was awarded the first ever Bachelor of Arts Degree in Popular Music and Jazz from the University of Rochester, and its sister conservatory, the Eastman School of Music. In the last several years, Jamie has built a formidable private studio of students on guitar, saxophone, piano, trumpet, clarinet, composition, theory, and performance.  Jamie has produced and hosted a plethora of student recitals, and begun his Master of Arts Degree in Music Education at Hunter College, inclusive of the AVID tutoring program and Teacher Education Program.  His musical influences are varied, and include Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, Brahms, Reich, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Hank Mobley, Charlie ‘Bird’ Parker, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, BB King, Bob Dylan, The Cars, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Tool, R.E.M., The Red Hot Chili Peppers, No Doubt, The Police, Say Anything, Journey, Rush, Jimmy Eat World, Motion City Soundtrack, Billy Joel, Goo Goo Dolls, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Alanis Morissette, John Mayer, Stone Temple Pilots, and many more.

Ron C

Instruments:

Although most of my playing experience has been with rock bands, big bands and weddings, I have a B.A. in classical performance/music education from William Paterson University. Most of my private study has been with Dave Larson of the New Jersey Symphony and Dave Rogers, a William Paterson jazz adjunct. My classroom career began at the Passaic County Elks' Cerebral Palsy Center in Clifton, NJ, and in 2001 I moved to my present position as Elementary Music Teacher in Middlesex, NJ.  I love to play blues on my trumpet, but my latest passion is learning finger-picking on guitar.

Alicia A

Instruments:

I am extremely passionate about all styles of music and helping others build on their own innate musical abilities! Originally from Rhode Island, I began learning the piano and trombone at a very young age. Throughout high school I was presented with many amazing musical opportunities such as being selected for the All Eastern Honors Band. I attended Ithaca College where I graduated with two Bachelors of Arts degrees in Music Education and Trombone Performance. I currently live in Brooklyn, New York where I teach music and perform regularly with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony, Metropolitan Quintet, and many other funk, reggae, afrobeat, jazz, and rock groups.

Phillip S

Instruments:

I am an experienced instrumental music teacher.  I have a B.A. and an M.A. in Music Education from the Manhattan School of Music.  I have worked as a professional musician and have been teaching music for many years.  I played and worked in Tehran, Iran early in my career. I use the software "Finale" to create music for various uses.  At my lessons I accompany my students on the piano.  I have the ability to teach flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and drums.  I believe that playing music is a joy.

More Information About Trumpet Lessons

A trumpet has several parts: the rim, the cup, the mouthpiece, the shank, the leadpipe, the valve pistons, and the valve casings. Make sure all the parts of the trumpet are in good condition, and make sure to ask an expert or a store employee to make sure. Prices for trumpets can vary so it is important to have a budget in mind for what you can spend. Many students will rent the instrument for some time before purchasing. When trying out trumpets, many students chose to bring their own mouthpiece, as this is the most personal part of the trumpet.
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons at your home - a time saving solution for busy parents and students. The convenience of in-home lessons allows you to save time without having to transport your child to class, allows your child to maximize their busy schedule, and provides a safe and familiar environment in which to learn.
Our teachers create a custom lesson plan for each student studying clarinet. Trumpet lessons are useful for many students taking band during school. They will focus on how to prepare the instrument for playing, how to hold the trumpet, how to play the valves, how to read music, and common musical styles which use the trumpet.
Taking trumpet lessons as an adult is a great way to learn a new skill. Many of our adult students may have played trumpet as a child, and want to pick it back up again. Adult students can generally notice a lot of progress in a short time, provided they are practicing every day between their lessons.
Our recommended starting age for the trumpet is 8. The instrument requires a good amount of lung capacity as well as physical strength in the muscles around the mouth. While a younger student could possibly be physically able to play the instrument, this is somewhat rare.
