Teaching has always been a passion of mine! In 2019, I graduated from University of Central Arkansas with my Bachelor of Music Education. From there, I earned a Graduate Certificate in Trombone Performance from the University of Central Arkansas in 2020. Finally in May 2023, I earned my Master of Music in Trombone Performance with a secondary area in Music Education. I'm a passionate and driven young musician eager to share the knowledge and experience I have and grow with others through teaching. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Bass Trombone Performance at New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, studying under James Markey, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Encouraging them to share with their families what they are working is always a good way to assure that they'll have a good support system throughout, which normally gets them more motivated to improve. Making sure they are having a good time throughout our lesson and during their practice times is key. Encouraging them from early on to expose themselves to performances and competitions is something that I always enforce, this is, after all, something that is meant to share with others. Read More

My teaching experience comes from a variety of different sources for the last 8 years. During college, I taught at my alumni as a summer marching band assistant. During that time, I also taught trombone and piano lessons to students around the Waco area. I have also taught as a elementary music teacher for two years, and I bring those skills with me to my lessons studio. For students of all ages, I give out as much encouragement and guidance as I can, but ultimately, I want students to become their own critiques. Read More

My teaching experience began when I was in college. I taught trombone and euphonium private lessons for several years in the school district that I attended when I was a student. Additionally, I also have done All State Masterclasses for the TMEA trombone etudes. Encouraging regular practice, building the life-long skill of discipline, and hard work are key skills that I enjoy getting to emphasize to my students, as it has a tendency to build student progression and ultimately gain a passion for learning the instrument. I began teaching lessons in college, and have enjoyed it from the very first day. I try to evaluate each student spefifically and see what they need to improve in the most efficient manner possible. Exercises and drills are present in my lessons, but I alwaystry to teach the bulk of trumpet fundamentals through actual music such as etudes, solos, band music, duets,etc. In this style of teaching, the students can pick what they want to play (after I give them a few guidelines), and we can still target the areas of playing that need work. I have been teaching students privately for over a decade, starting with teaching trombone in high school, continuning with drumming students in college, and teaching professional-leve drums and percussion, advanced trombone, and beginner guitar students.  My primary passion lies in West African music, and I really enjoy bridging cultural gaps in my teaching.  At the same time, I am rooted in American jazz, western classical music, and rudimentary style drumming.
