Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I started teaching while I was in college as a swing dance instructor. I got my first experience teaching people who had little to no experience with the art form, and I had to navigate teaching students with varying skill levels. After college I began teaching beginning students how to play both saxophone and clarinet. I had private students who I met with on a one-on-one basis, and I also had the opportunity to work with middle schoolers and assist both the beginning and the advanced bands. Read More

I began teaching guitar lessons while I was in college in the 70's. I taught guitar lessons at that time, but once I got my Bachelor of Music Education degree, I began teaching private clarinet and saxophone lessons as well. I have taught instrumental music in public school systems in Georgia and Tennessee, and have taught privately at Cadek Music Conservatory in Chattanooga as well. Read More

I taught AP music theory while I was IN high school, graduated as the top pianist of one of the top 10 jazz bands in the USA. In college at SMU, I studied finance, but quickly got a double in music, studying classical music under Alfred Mouledous (world renowned pianist) and focusing my free time on jazz. I played and taught at a company called ABMusic in Perth, Australia which taught Indigenous Australians how to assimilate into soceity through the use of music. Read More

With this change came a new found view of the importance of practicing and listening to jazz. Even though I had shelved my aspirations to be a teacher, the love of that craft never faded. I attended Belmont University to do a masters of music in Commercial Music and reignited my love of teach through my assistantships and my Experiences helping with the direction and day to day duties of the top jazz ensemble. I first taught lessons in my years at the University of Memphis, some years ago. During this period one of my students was awarded the top alto saxophone chair in the Mississippi All State high school band. I began teaching again during my tenure at UT Martin.
