I have experience teaching since high school, as I was a prominent member of the marching band and was given teaching responsibilities starting my sophomore year in 2014. Since then, I've taught marching band small groups, wind band sectionals, chamber group coachings including brass quintets and saxophone quartets, and some larger chamber groups of woodwind, brass, and percussionists. I have also been a member of various jazz combos from 2015 to 2020, organizing setlists, personnel, and gigs. Read More

My approach to teaching focuses on the importance of fundamental exercises. Along with this, I work with the student to create a dialogue that reinforces their interest in lessons. When teaching new students, I believe it is important to establish that music-making is supposed to be a gratifying experience, with communication being a key factor: if a student doesn't understand something or needs further explanation, I am more than happy to work with that student so that they feel confident moving forward. Once I graduated from Bethune Cookman I went back to my old high school and volunteered in the music department. Read More

I've learned that every person has their own unique experience with music, and its important to find out what inspires them. Mastering an instrument is a long road, and it's worth taking the time to learn that one technique or song that a student is clearly interested in even if it's a bit off track. At the same time, I believe that setting long and short term goals is the best way to progress. Read More
