While grasping the fundamentals of the instrument itself is crucial, I like to go about it in a way that will provide a positive and inspiring experience for the student. For piano, I go over basic theory, major and minor scales, chords and arpeggios and work in Piano For Adults by James Bastien. Read More

For younger beginners on piano I use the Hal Leonard series to start. For older piano students I use Faber Faber. For guitar and voice, I base my method on the students' interest. I feel that for a student to be successful and enjoy the instrument they are learning, they need to be learning a style that excites them. Read More

I have been involved in music for as long as I can remember, singing in church choirs and leading contemporary worship. Having decided that performing was not my #1 passion I then pursued a Masters of Music degree, specializing in Music Therapy, from Colorado State Univeristy. I have been a professional music therapist for the past 9 years, working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities as well as mental health populations. Read More
