An important factor for me is helping students learn proper technique. I feel that mastering the necessary skills of finger placement and hand positioning will lay the groundwork for quickly learning new pieces as skill level grows. At the start of my junior year of high school, I began teaching piano to a handful of students in my small town. It was such an exciting experience! I taught a few very young students whose moms wanted them to try out the instrument and learn some fundamentals, and I taught a few older students who just wanted to know how to play some of their favorite songs.
