I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students of all ages and skill levels. I studied at the prestigious Hartt School of Music for two years as a music education major while studying clarinet with Alan R. Kay (Juilliard). I believe the number one rule of playing music is to have fun. Stressing this frequently with my students to remind them to not get frustrated with themselves if they run into any challenges with learning their instrument is a part of my teaching style. One of the many motivational sayings I tell them is, "Nothing in music is hard, it's just unfamiliar." I try to provide a good balance between working on theory, technique, and repertoire, and working on aspects that might be more fun like a students favorite song. This allows the student to make progress while also keeping motivated, which is really important for long term goals. For children, the balance has to lean more towards the more entertaining aspect, because of the reduced attention span. I actively work towards getting the younger students to increase their tolerance towards difficult challenges so that they can make more overall progress. Read More
