Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. It's very important to me that the student progresses at their own pace while still being presented with new challenges along the way. I believe in a well-rounded music education, by teaching music theory and ear training from the very beginning along with private instruction, supplemented by listening/analyzing music, ensemble playing, performance opportunities, and using the best of new music technology software to increase one's overall musicianship. I have been teaching Prek- 8th Grade general music, choir, drama and instrumental lessons for the past 5 years. I am a 2009 graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Music and a 2011 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University with an MA in Music Education. My primary instrument is trumpet and I have played in a variety of bands and sung in a variety of choruses of the years. I teach Guitar & Piano to the beginner and intermediate student. You will learn Songs, Notes (optional) Theory, Rhythm, Technique and much more. Furthermore, Music composition, Arranging, Orchestration and Music Production are great tools to use in terms of practical application. Sounding original and not mechanical right from the start and knowing what makes music really work is crucial to an overall successful experience. My teaching experiences stems back to my undergraduate career at the John J. Cali School of music. I began teaching and tutoring underclassmen in theory, piano and voice while also teaching dance classes in the community. After I graduated I continued teaching and gained an assistantship to continue voice lessons to undergraduate non-majors. I also was the assistant director for our musical theater revue. After I returned from my masters work I contued teaching as various private schools in the New Jersey area before being hired as an artist affiliate at Bucknell University in 2015. Read More
