Since I have an Administrators degree and have concentrated on many Healthcare/Science classes regarding disabilities, I can tailor my lessons to students who may be dyslexic or have ADHD. I have a few method books that I like to use in my lessons. For brass students, I like the Rubank method books for beginners and the Arban book for advanced students. For young beginners on classical piano, I like "Music Tree," and the Faber "Piano Adventures" series, and for older kids I use the Bastien literature series. Depending on the skill level of the individual I adjust the lesson plans. All students shall do their basic scales and preliminary sight reading. For beginners (of all ages) proper technique will be heavily emphasized. This will include posture and form. We will then evolve into basic classical pieces to learn and continue to build on the fundamentals. With intermediate students we will begin to learn advanced scales and proper audition techniques. My experience of teaching music started as I recieved the opportunity to be a student teacher at an elementary school in Montgomery, Alabama.
