As a lover of multiple genres of music, I aim to improve technique, versatility, and musicianship with my teaching. I recently graduated Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Music Business. During my time in school, I performed throughout the Boston area at venues such as the Middle East and the Berklee Performance Center. Therefore, I spend the early lessons getting to know the student and designing the layout for our lessons moving forward. There are definitely certain books that I have used to assist with teaching. I've been teaching for 10+ years now. I work mostly with beginner to intermediate adults and particularly enjoy someone discovering they can learn an instrument later in life. I love helping someone learn their first song as much as helping them work their way up to a holy grail song. I've helped a mother play a classical piece to accompany her son at a recital. This is why I try to not ignore the deeper, more holistic aspects of the art, which is why I emphasize composition in my lessons. I will compose for my students pieces that highlight something they are working on, but I will also assign compositions for my students because kids love it and creativity yields a deeper connection to any given subject than, say, rote memorization. I love kids and do not stifle their creativity, without steering too far away from the task at hand, I like to listen to what they have to say because you never know what valuable information you may learn about their present perspective.
