I originally enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to earn a degree in Elementary Education. After my second year, I left to persue other endeavors. In 2010, I began taking on guitar students in Windber, PA teaching beginner and intermediate guitar lessons to several high school students. I have done group sessions which usually turn into jam sessions focusing on each students individual strength while showing them how to play with others, but I also enjoy individual sessions that go more in depth with structure, form, rythm, and some music theory involved. During my employment with Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education (in Wilson, NC) where I introduced a marching band program and lead the band to winning second place in the Music in the Parks competition in May of 2015. During my internship I was able to develop a percussion line with the students in under a month. The formation and level of proficiency of the percussion section was so astonishing that administrators, staff, other teachers, and even the principal dropped in from time to time just to hear the progression of the ensemble. My teaching style is very analytical yet engaging! I try to establish a good relationship before pushing a student. At that point I will ask the student to play to the best of his/her ability. I teach in a style that helps children isolate problem areas, so that they can practice specific excerpts they are struggling with.
