Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I have started my own pedagogy when it comes to teaching drums but it is pretty straightforward. The first lesson is about basic technique and learning the drums and cymbals and then moving into being able to play a simple rock beat. For beginning piano/recorder students who are children, I start with Primer Level - Lesson Book: Piano Adventures and Recorder Karate. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For beginning voice students, I find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I never want to pressure or overwhelm a student with too much information or expectation, because instead of the instruction being seen as a challenge, it is interpreted as an unenjoyable command, and that discourages the student from practicing to meet their goals, instead of motivating and inspiring them. What I find works best is relating lessons to popular current music, further exploring the bridge of dynamics that make up the songs that the student enjoys. Read More

Antony has a lot of experience as a performer and teacher. He has sung with Washington National Opera, Washington Bach Consort, and Handel and Haydn Society and performed over 30 roles in opera/musical theater. He is also a singer/songwriter. Antony has taught at Shenandoah Conservatory, College of Southern Maryland, and the Levine School of Music. He has also maintained a private studio in voice, guitar, and piano since moving to Northern Virginia in 2004. Read More
