In 2005 I began teaching at Cohutta Springs Youth Camp for 7 summers. In 2012-2017 I partnered with the Chris Picco Music Academy in Redlands California as a guitar teacher. I am a singer songwriter, worship leader, and producer. I am passionate about students having fun and enjoying music. I listen to all kinds of music and have taught many different levels and styles. Hi, my name is Paul and I have been teaching in the private sector since 2009. I earned my degree in Guitar Perfrmance and Theoryfrom Atlanta Institute of Music in 2010 and haven't looked back since. Guitar is my primary interest but I also play mandolin, dobro, piano and bass. I started teaching guitar in High School in 2009, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 8 years. I took private lessons for 7 years from four different guitar instructors, so I know what works and what doesn't. My number one focus as a teacher is keeping my students engaged, and doing my best to ignite their passion for the instrument of guitar. I start with teaching proper technique, form, and posture, as well as the basic chord shapes and strumming patterns, and from there I teach songs that both put these new techniques into practice and adhere to the student's musical interests. My teaching methods are relatively universal. With younger students, I focus more on learning to have fun while learning about their instrument at the same time. The more fun they're having, the more likely they are to stick to it. For adults, I keep this same philosophy in tact, but incorporate more technique, theory, and performance practice into our sessions in order to facilitate the learning curve.
