My lessons range from beginner to advanced, and my curriculum revolves around: 1) Understanding the basics of theory, and showcasing how those basics are applied in songs (specifically bands and artists that you regularly listen to). 2) Proper technique, and also 3) Some fun and fancy tricks! For beginning guitar students, I start with Alfred's Basic Guitar Method. Once a foundation is established, I gauge where the student wants to go stylistically and tailor lesson plans from there. There are a plethora of guitar methods available, but I find it most valuable to learn parts from recordings of the guitarists whom they most want to emulate. From there, I would gather information from the student regarding his or her difficulty level with the instrument and then from there, I would put together the appropriate materials for the lesson so that we have a plan to work from and an end goal in mind.
