I am a classical guitarist, active teacher and currently accepting students of Suzuki Guitar in the Milwaukee area. I began teaching guitar 10 years ago after receiving my Bachelor's of Music with a Studio Art Minor from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. In 2008, I graduated with a Master's degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Wisconsin Madison while studying under internationally famed performer and recording artist Javier Calderon. For brass players, I use Arbans, Bordogni, and Blazhevich etude books coupled with Rubank and other duets to form a solid foundation. From there I try and let the students' own interest in music guide other parts of practice. With strings I like to start out with the Hal Leonard beginning books to get the basics of reading music. I approach teaching as an avenue to inspire others. Making mistakes are just as important as playing something perfect. I like to stress that perfection is not the goal but feeling good from playing your instrument is. It is very important for my students to practice outside of lessons. I stress the importance of regular practice in order for students to make weekly progress, and ultimately desire to help them develop their playing technique and theoretical knowledge while making room for them to explore their personal interests and enjoy playing their instrument.
