I'm a huge music theory and composition person and would love to work with students interested in theory and song writing. I love working with all styles with a vocal focus in musical theater, classical, jazz, and contemporary (pop, indie, folk etc..) and an instrumental focus in classical, contemporary (rock, punk, metal, indie, folk etc..) and music from all over the world. After experiencing performance injuries like tendonitis at a young age, I specifically gear my teaching style toward healthy playing practices that are conducive to playing with ease. During my undergraduate degree, I have completed an introductory course and multiple workshops on the Alexander Technique. I have geared my playing to this mindful practice, and I believe that it is beneficial for any musician of any level to experience it. My students will be asked to notice what they feel as they play, and if it is uncomfortable tension, then we will redirect to make whatever feels awkward, more natural. Read More

My instruction experience dates back to my time in high school, as I started instructing private lessons part time 11 years ago, and have been regularly teaching in my home studio throughout that time. Creating a consistent practice schedule is one of the ideas I like to emphasize for younger students, as it will be more likely to benefit student development, and help them grow a passion for the instrument. Books I have used in the past include the Essential Elements series and the Melodious and Progressive Etude series. I also understand the importance of enjoying what one is playing, so I always urge students find pieces or books for themselves that they are interested in, and incorporate them into my lessons.
