Hello to All: I have been making music my entire life. I have a Passion for bringing people together with the joy of Music. I perform on a variety of Instruments including piano, guitars, woodwinds, and with the voice. I have successfully assisted all ages in private and public lessons and classes. More than anything else, teaching music is what I love to do! It is a blessing to be apart of someone's musical development. In 1992, I graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Performance (Flute/Piano). Then in 1996, I graduated with a Master of Music degree from University of Massachusetts-Lowell with also in Instrumental Performance. I've taught private flute and piano lessons at: Andrews University, Lake Michigan College, Crescendo Academy of Music, The Citadel, Nashua Community Music School, and currently, my home studio in Plainwell. For beginning students (adult and children) I like to be sure that their knowledge about fundamentals is solid. I believe ear training is paramount. Not everyone can sing, but secure pitch discrimination can help all musicians (even percussionists). I encourage all students to participate in ensembles (band, choral also). Knowledge of phrasing is also important to aspiring musicians. Students need support from listening to others play (live performances, radio,and recordings). Read More

Lessons are light, upbeat and informal, with many opportunities for parent participation if desired (when applicable). Students are encouraged to experiment with their instruments and to pursue their favorite musical styles. Adult Students are eligible for Performance Field trips and other learning opportunities  at no extra cost. I like to tailor my lessons and teaching methods to the skills and age of the player. I usually will put together a bundle exercises compile of flute methods and exercises I create myself to help the student progress. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Read More
