I'm a dedicated and hard-working teacher that works to provide a consistently growing love and appreciation for music in her students. In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Clarinet Performance at Morehead State University, and in April 2018 I graduated with my Master of Music degree at the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music. I have performed in various professional and semi-professional musical settings including: 2 years in the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, playing out of clarinet/flute/saxophone books for multiple musicals, and most recently traveling around the Midwest states playing clarinet for the Guerrilla Chamber Collective (a chamber group dedicated to performing new music by up-and-coming composers). For beginners, I favor the Rubank methods. Beginning with intermediate to advanced students, I pull from many different methods and collections, and decide on repertoire based on a custom plan for the student's specific progress. In creating this plan, I select assignments and pieces depending on what the student is drawn to, what they wish to accomplish, and what areas of their playing need more focused work. I always try to look for repertoire that the student can polish in time for an audition/performance/jury, while also serving as a whetting stone for their skills. Read More

I usually start with asking what kind of music students would like to learn and go from there. For a student starting band at school, typically I start with the method book they are going to use and move on to the Rubank method book series. For adult beginners, I start with the Essential Elements book for Alto Saxophone to get a good understanding of notes and the basics of how to read music. Read More

For students who are already in an instrumental program through school, I will start with whatever method book they are using at school, and branch off from there. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book. I began teaching private lessons 6 years ago during my studies of a undergraduate. While living in Tennessee I maintained a studio of many students ranging from age 8 to age 50. I believe that lessons are about what the students want to know and I am very willing to give them what they want. I encourage students to work towards competitions, recitals, and their own projects.
