My teaching is very student-driven. I try to keep the students interests as a primary goal in keeping their interest level and so that they can progress in a musical situation. When they are interested in what they are learning, they strive for success. I try to acknowledge their successes and accomplishments which helps keep them learning and wanting to learn more. Great music lessons are a mix of solid technique building and fun application of those skills. I always spend the first few lessons getting the student familiar with the basic technique of the instrument, and then quickly move on to duets, improvising, sight reading, solos, etc. that tie in with the current technique studies. I use a variety of methods for my teaching style. I usually have a few method books that I bring to a first lesson, and after meeting the student I will decide on the best one. Once the student has progressed and shows some motivation to be slightly challenged, I'll introduce "popular" music so that the student feels a sense of accomplishment! I am a recent graduate from The Juilliard School. I have performed with orchestras around the Tri-State area, and made my debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2013. I have performed in masterclasses across Europe and America with such teachers as James Galway, Julien Beaudiment, Denis Bouriakov, Marina Piccinini, Philippe Bernold, Jim Walker, Karl-Heinz Schtz, and Jill Felber.
