I hope to inspire a love of music in others through my teaching, playing, and composing. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Rubank Elementary Method book and the Forty Little Pieces Collection for beginning flutists. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce additional solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance including pieces out of the 24 Short Concert Pieces for Flute and Piano book, as well as move on to the Intermediate and Advanced Rubank Method books. Having taught many students over the years, my favorite books for young beginners are the Rubank series and Pares Scale book. These give a good foundation and progression and have easy to read fingering charts. Once a student gets going with these I introduce simple duet books so that, by playing with me, they develop a strong sense of tone and intonation. The first solo books I recommend are collections of solo's by famous composers, these give the student the chance to gravitate toward the style and composer they like best. Read More

I began teaching lessons in high school, and have now been actively teaching privately for over 5 years. I mainly teach saxophone and clarinet, but I am also able to teach beginner piano and flute. I have had experience with students of all ages and levels, from beginner all the way to advanced. I am a passionate educator and performer from the greater Boston area.  I love to see my students succeed and achieve their musical goals.  My students have gone on to the college level at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and University of New Hampshire.  At the undergraduate level, I played with the UNH Wind Symphony and the UNH Symphony Orchestra for three years.  I have had two full solo recitals at UNH, and I have had the opportunity to be recorded on the Wind Symphony CD: The Music of Daniel Bukvitch.  Upon graduating with two degrees I moved to New York City.
