Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For beginning students, I use a couple of different method books including one of my own. I also focus on what rhythm really is and try to get the student to develop timing skills and reading skills too. I like to teach songs for several reasons, one being it teaches the student to develop certain skills and timing skills that are necessary for the student. My teaching experience started when I became a choir Director in my church in 2000,I love to teach different harmonies for different vocal ranges plus I will teach them with the solfa notations which is the music notes.i remember some of the choristers where tone deaf but I always love to take it slow and steady with them eventually they all got better and I was fulfilled.its always fun and conducive in my classes because I always make it look easy and not stressful.i always tell my students that the only way you can be better is daily practice and dedication. For any lesson I prefer to have two drum kits, side by side, so that my student can see exactly what I'm doing (posture, form, etc). Though this is not the case most of the time, one kit is always fine. For beginning students I often start with snare drum technique, and depending on what the student knows already, basic kit beats. I started drumming when I was 13 years old with the desire to join a rock band. My first teacher was Jaime Jesperson, who opened my eyes to the world of advanced drumming styles beyond the world of rock music. My studies with him prepared me to study with Jay Lawrence, Utah's premier jazz drummer, and to qualify for a music scholarship at Brigham Young University, where I performed in several jazz groups and orchestral groups.
