I have been playing guitar since 2004, with styles ranging from Punk and Metal to Jazz and R&B. I've had the opportunity to work in a number of professional studios, as both a producer/engineer and session player. My personal music project, Art Wavey, blends styles of R&B, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, and New Age. In addition to this project, I have had the blessing of playing with a number of artists such as Blake McGrath, Go Home, and Joe Lally. Read More

I'm a seasoned musician that is very motivated to share my knowledge with eager students. I focus mainly on cultivating musicianship as a whole instead of focusing on a single facet. I've been in a wide range of musical projects - choirs, a Capella groups, folk bands, rock bands, etc - and I assumed a leadership role in every single one. I am very goal oriented in teaching. I use a similar methodology as learning a language. I prefer the Hal Leonard books for beginning students. Some of the major aspects I like to focus on are three areas being 1) Rudiments, Scales, and Chords, 2) Educational books, 3) favorite song repertoire. For students younger than 15, I recommend only 30 minutes unless students are more experienced and very engaged in their instrument. Students older than 16 can take more advantage of a 45 minute or even an hour lesson. Read More
Instruments: Drums
For beginning students, I start with getting comfortable holding the drum sticks and understanding how to properly strike the drumhead. Students will be introduced to basic notes and rhythms that will help them along the way. Beginning students start on drum pads and progressively move towards actual drums. For students that are in band at their school, I can reinforce what is being taught by their band director and give extra guidance. Read More

I'm an organized and efficient teacher who loves to find ways to push students to the next level; whether that level is playing professionally or as a hobby. I believe in clear direction and learning how to play the right way the first time. I have been teaching lessons since 2006 when I started as a music major at Asbury Univeristy, a private, liberal arts college outside of Lexington, KY. Because of my love of music I consdier myself a lifelong learner and it is my passion to teach what I've learned to others. Read More
