My teaching includes all aspects of music; Musical theory, sight singing, as well as Music History. My teaching style allows the child to have fun while they learn their instrument, but I emphasize a strong practice regiment. Your child will understand that while learning music and an instrument can be fun, there will be some work involved if they want to become great. I usually use either the Alfred or Rubank method books to supplement a curriculum that I tailor make for each individual student. Read More

As of 2022, I am new to professionally teaching, but I have given plenty of hour lessons to some friends and close acquaintances. Not to mention the fact that I have had an outstanding lineup of teachers that have gotten me to where I am now, including Distinguished Professor James Piorkowski of the Buffalo Guitar Quartet, and Courtney Fleming, whose teacher-student lineage traces back to the famous romantic guitarist Francisco Tarrega. I've played drums and percussion in bands across many genres including Jazz, Rock, Soul, R & B, and Country. I focus on nurturing a students natural curiosity, while helping them find the tools to pursue their own musical interests. Many of my younger students prefer to use technology to connect with music (learning how songs are recorded, and the theory behind songwriting), but I also work with more serious students to prepare for college auditions, state/regional jazz band, etc. My methods differ depending on a student's own goals, but they generally all will start with a technical exercise, an exercise designed to get the student thinking critically, and an application of the concepts we're learning. My teaching experience dates bak to my middle school/highschool days, as I began teaching friends how to accomplish that one part of the song they just could not work out. This lead me into teaching private lessons part time 10 years ago and have been consistently teaching students in my professional studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule and understanding that drumming is journey and no one is better than anyone else, is of the the key points I like to emphasize for younger students as it tends to help the student progress and gain confidence with the instrument. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. For my more advanced students, I work with them on musical concepts to develop strong practice habits and scheduling. Read More
