My love for teaching started around my sophomore year of high school. I used to be in marching band and I would always offer to help the people in my section with the music and find easier ways to play certain passages. Music has always been a joy in my life and I want to help students find that joy for themselves. I have taught every semester I have been in college thanks to being a part of the Musicianship and Advancing Pedagogy--MAP--Program in the College of Musical Arts. I taught for the Middle School and High School Band Academy Programs. There, I taught sectional rehearsal for anywhere between 2-14 students for an hour. I teach a combination of Rote and verbal, conveying my ideas while playing as an example. I realized my passion for music when I was teaching forty clarinetists during a band camp. They caught on to my personality and knew I wanted the best for them. This ultimately drove them to be better musicians. I always create a unique lesson plan for each student based of their age, skill, and most importantly the music style or genre they want to pursue. I approach every genre with a strong foundation in order to make repertoire more approachable, such as learning a variety of scales, developing good tone, and working on method or etude books to strengthen the range of possibilities on their instruments.
