Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Students will always be encouraged to learn more scales, more octaves, and the full range chromatic scale. All students are encouraged to learn a solo appropriate to their playing level. Older students interested in auditioning for All-Region bands, will work on etudes to prepare for those honor band auditions. We will also prepare excerpts for various auditions like the Lone Star Youth Orchestra, etc, if students are interested in that. Read More

When a student starts taking lessons with me, I first try to get a sense of the student's past musical experiences and current musical skills so that I can develop an individualized plan for the student, also taking into account the student's interests and goals. I am a University of North Texas graduate. I studied with Jim Riggs and Dr. Eric Nestler and played in the top lab bands and classical ensembles while attending school. I later moved to NYC where I started my professional playing career. I lived there for 14 years playing with several music ensembles and studied with Bill Blount on clarinet and Lorrie Glaze on piano. For beginners I generally use Rubank method. I feel this text is complete and covers all of the material that beginning woodwind players need. The intermediate method has even more material as well as repertoire to start the important process of learning longer pieces of music. I stress the fundamentals as this is the basis of all good playing. For my jazz students I use texts by Keller, Weiskopf, Fishman and transcriptions. Read More
