I have lead others and taught them before ever having my own classroom as a leader in High School and College. It has greatly pleased me that my students have had many accomplishments in many groups. These vary from various Honors Bands, the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra, and many High Valued Scholarships. My teaching experience dates back to my pre-college/ post high school days where I was a volunteer director of a community ensemble in Jamaica. This opportunity opened doors for me to teach music theory and private saxophone and flute lessons in a community based project that was geared towards using music for social development and change in the inner city youth. I eventually moved on to the college setting where I served as a Graduate Assistant who had the responsibility of providing private and supplemental lessons to students who were enrolled in the University, all while operating a private studio of my own. He and I performed weekly during our time at GA State U. jazz dept. from the jazz department, as well as many stadium arena shows w Zac and the guys! From there I met the leaders of the Yacht Rock Revue and went on to perform w Yacht Rock Schooner (still perform with regularly) and later Electric Ave! All of which are “high-level”, professional, touring festival bands. I was leading band and sectionals in almost every instruments since I played 20 instruments. I end up volunteering for two years while I was in college and taught beginning band for freshmens in my high school. At the same time, I was teaching private lessons part-time.
