Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My emphasis is on performance and motivating the student. I set goals for performance at the early stages of study whether it's for family and friends or at an open mic or in church. Without performance as a goal it's hard to motivate the student to practice. I analyze each student's individual learning style whether it's visual or auditory and find ways to help them learn faster and securely. I see it as a mission to invite people of many backgrounds to learn and enjoy bowed stringed instruments. If music as a whole is completely new, I tend to delay it, teaching by ear at first to establish technique fundamentals and aural skills. I prefer to see technical “problems” as something that is limiting their musical expression and that needs to be adjusted and reprogrammed, not as something the student is doing wrong. When I first start working with my voice students I like to learn where you are at, with any previous vocal training, what techniques you may or may not know, and where you are at musically with sight reading and theory. It is really important to have the fundamentals down in order to have a strong base to grow from and add musicality and stylization. For more advanced students I again like to meet you where you are and incorporate some of the techniques that I have that will help you grow to the next level and give you the ability to perform any kind of genre and style of music because you have strong core techniques.
