For students who are young children, I typically start by addressing the importance of playing what you hear. In terms of younger students who are first discvovering their interest in music, it is important to develop a basic foundation of understanding in terms of reading, writing, and communication with other musicians through the application of time tested teaching methods forcing the student to apply what they have learned in weekly "missions." For intermediate to advanced players, I'm able to help them to identify and subvert sticking points through the application of music theory, technique, and listening exercises as well as impart knowledge of the inner workings of music business and performance.
