I am a motivated, hard-working performer and teacher. I am a very versatile musician who has studied classical, jazz, blues, rock, and many other genres. I play regularly all over North Carolina and South Carolina with a rock band and a jazz trio. I also work with musical theater groups playing in the pit orchestras. I have been in love with music since I was a very young child. I was studying and performing singing and piano by the time I was five. I toured as a second soprano with the North Carolina Boys Choir for almost four years starting at age nine. I began teaching myself guitar at age fourteen. I enjoy helping budding musicians to achieve self-confidence in playing their instrument(s) as well by creating as many musical performance experiences as possible and encouraging them to see live performances. My goal is to instill the passion, drive, and energy that music has brought into my own life into the lives of others. I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd. I work both as a freelance musician and bass instructor. I graduated from Millikin University in 2012 with a degree in Commercial Bass Performance. After I graduated I worked with a wide range of musical groups. I have performed in showbands, latin groups,musicals, jazz quartets, neo soul groups, and have even played contrabass in guitar ensembles. I would say one of the greater experiences I have had as a musician was when I made an album with the Millikin University Latin Jazz Project, which won Downbeat Magazine's 36th annual Student Music Award for the category of Undergraduate College Outstanding Performance.  Read More
