I grew up learning music in the Rochester area and received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2015. I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. Currently, I am the Music Director for Journey Church, and a musician for the International Musicians League. Voice: The voice is a fascinating instrument. We use it every day from the moment we're born and it is constantly changing as we progress through life. I love guiding singers through these changes and unlocking their true voice with individualized curricula that cater to what the voice needs. Exercises and songs are carefully chosen and provided sequentially based on the singer's current ability and specific goals. It is not necessary, however, to learn chords or grooves specifically from a book for these instruments. Depending on the desired style, there may not be much use of notated music, guitar tabliture, etc. But as already stated, this does not excuse a good foundation in reading music and understanding music theory. For more advanced players (who would most likely be percussionists if working with me, though I am willing to work with any instrument at a more advanced level), we would work out of books I and the student(s) find fitting for their skill level.
