Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

For beginning students, I vary my teaching methods quite a bit. I often take on students in households that already have method books purchased, and I have never had an issue with using them. At times, more books are needed, but I will allow the student to utilize these already-owned options, as I myself will supplement extra music. I have been involved with music since middle school, where I participated in marching band. I continued in marching band up to my junior year of college. In high school I began working with my church's worship team, first as a percussionist, then as an acoustic guitarist. I began training in basic music theory at this time as well. For beginning children students I typically start with Hal Leonard or a similar reputable music book. Once the students has a grasp of the fundamentals we will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their age and skill level. For adult students, I find out what the student is interested in and create a lesson plan that is fun and challenging no matter their skill level. I studied the Suzuki method as a youngster so I understand the importance of ear training and sight reading. Read More

I approach teaching in a very relaxed manner. If my students learn in a certain type of way I will differentiate my teaching style to accommodate them. I believe all students can learn and enjoy music, it is just a matter of finding the way that speaks to them the most. I do this by first seeing their experience level, asking where they are hoping to be, setting realistic goals, and by acknowledging their mile stones to keep their motivations high. Read More

I've seen the face of an 80 year old grasping the ukulele and finally getting to hear himself playing his own songs, and seeing the glow in his eyes like a child. When you set realistic goals and set what steps are going to get you there, all the while celebrating each little victory, every lesson depends on the needs of my student. I am currently teaching solely for the fun of it and the challenge in it, as it is not my main career or main project, but it is something I get a lot from, and I have found over the years, has helped a ton of people get back into picking up their instrument, and cutting out the world for a bit.
