Each student is unique. I tailor my approach and the materials I use in lessons to the specific needs and interests of the individual student. I strive to develop overall musicianship and expressive playing/singing, and introduce concepts in a sequential and progressive manner. Lessons include sight reading, notation, improvisation, ear-training, theory and repertoire building. It is important to me that my students' feel connected to the material they are playing/singing, therefore i hand-pick particular pieces that they have responded to and enjoyed. Read More

I want my students to find enjoyment and purpose from making music first and foremost. Every student has a unique set of skills, and not every student learns the same way. I believe that something valuable can be learned from any single piece of music. Etude books, like Voxman's Selected Studies, and Rochut's Melodious Etudes are my go to for daily practice, but are not the only option available. I like to take a pragmatic approach to teaching, and will modify any exercises and routines as needed to get the best result from each student. Read More

I focus on finding a routine for each individual singer, because just like all voices are not the same, all minds do not think alike. Assessing them in terms of where their skill level is for ear training and vocal technique. If student is interested in learning repertoire I will also assess their Music Memorization and sight singing skills.
