Upon graduation from college, I worked with autistic support students within Pittsburgh Public schools. I secured my music teaching position working in the same district shortly there after. I taught grades kindergarten through eighth. I taught general music along with instrumental music and choir. I also coached middle school cross country runners for several seasons. I was born in Montreal, Canada and started to learn violin at the age of four, in my grandmother's music school. My brothers and I attended weekly lessons at the school and music was part of our home life. I quickly developed a passion for music and became a more serious student in my pre-teen years. In 2007, I graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a minor in music with a performance focus on the viola. I received my Bachelor's in Performance from Eastman School of Music. Shortly thereafter I joined the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra. In Boise, I taught privately as well as at Boise State University. In addition to instrumental lessons, I taught classes in music theory, aural skills, and chamber music. Recently, I performed with the Symphony No. One chamber orchestra in Baltimore, premiering new works written for the ensemble. My approach to teaching is to come in with a detailed plan I'm ready to throw out the window. Music should be fun! Sometimes we have to work hard to make sure it is fun for the long run, but work doesn't need to be unenjoyable. For the kids and kids at heart, I incorporate movement games and Orff instruments.
