For beginning string students, I start students with 'Time For Strings' written by Fishburn and Luman. This book is especially helpful for beginners due to the unique rhythmic approach. I also have an all-inclusive curriculum for beginning strings. When ready (usually within the first 6-8 months of lessons), all students are encouraged to participate in NYSSMA Festival's. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a basic book like Fiddle Magic by Sally O'Reilly. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will move on to the Suzuki Books. Along with teaching from the Suzuki Book, I will supplement their learning with an etude book such as Wohlfahrt and Kreutzer. After a certain point, I will start working on pieces and concertos not in the Suzuki books anymore. Read More

If someone wants to learn technique, music theory, songwriting, how to play Taylor Swift songs, arranging, composing, confidence, et cetera we will work on what is driving them to take lessons and learn!
