I always explore different methods that might fit the age and personality of the student but for keyboard lessons I have found success with the Alfred Piano Method. Instrumental lessons usually follow the method book that is selected by their school band director. My style is light and cheery - I make the kids feel important and I acknowledge their progress regularly. I am not a knuckle-rapping teacher. Discipline comes naturally out of a love of learning and I notice when they are practicing and let them know and that induces more and continuous practicing.
