For high school-aged students interested in musical theater and/or pop music, we try to find common ground on their musical interests and find pieces based on that. My methods are dependent upon playing ability; these methods are very flexible throughout a student's experience in my studio. For beginners, I wait to introduce sheet music. The goal is relaxed posture and the ability to draw a good sound with the bow. Once this is accomplished, a sense of confidence is instilled in the student, and rapid growth continues from there.
