My name is Wes and I am a violin and viola teacher who is passionate about playing, working with students, and sharing my own passion for music with other people. I started playing the violin in 2006 and started taking lessons with a talented member of the Sarasota Orchestra. In 2008, I became the Concertmaster of the Chamber Strings Orchestra, a part of the Sarasota Youth Orchestra Program. I teach both the Classical and Suzuki methods. I have students of all ages so it varies which student is learning which method. The best for children is the Suzuki method that is widely used in the USA. Classical methods can be used when I teach young adults and adults. It is pretty flexible though and I sometimes teach younger children the classical method. I like challenges and I often have children and older students that express different tempers. Read More

I have been teaching music for the past 25 years. First in the Public Schools in Tennessee and Florida and at the college level. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
