The methods I use vary depending on the students ability and level. Hal Leonard's beginner's method for piano is one that I use for students starting piano at an elemental level. I also use Hal Leonard's essential element's method for beginner trumpet students. These methods work very well for elemental and intermediate levels. Use all major method and etude books. Have a large library of rare etude books on PDF as well as my own exercises I've written out. Example trumpet books for intermediate student: Arban Clarke Sachs Schlossberg Stamp Charlier Vizzutti Bai Lin Irons etc I encourage students to find music they would like to play, even if they aren't able to play immediately. I began teaching right out of High School. My Band Director hired me to teach the Summer after I graduated. I was a Full Time Band Director in the 1999-2000 School year while still in College.
