Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I am a great listener, who listens to the students needs and abilities. I believe that we all go through a metamorphosis, a transformation in our musicianship. Music is meant to be enjoyed not shoved through. I also believe that the student needs to be engaged, and challenged in their musicality by calling them to a higher technique within their abilities to perform. One of my biggest strengths as a music teacher is figuring out students' learning styles and differentiating instruction accordingly. I absolutely do not use a cookie cutter approach. I am very good at personalizing lessons to fit students' interests and needs. I feel it is important to allow each student to learn at his or her own pace. For beginner trumpeters, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements and then slowly transition into solo repertoire that suits their skill set as they make it into the intermediate level. As advanced players, we will focus on refining skills with drill books as well as work on standards in solo repertoire. For my vocal students, we will always work on range and flexibility exercises as well as vocal repertoire from multiple genres that suit the skill level of the singer. Read More

For my advanced students (18+), depending on how advanced they are, I start them in the "First Book of _______ Solos" series. This series covers singing in English as well as several other languages and provides a good foundation for singing. Anything else I do with the student is on an individual basis. For younger brass students (10-14) I would teach out of the Standard of Excellence Books unless they are more advanced where I would start them in the Arbans Book, Robert Getchell Book, and/or Schlossberg Book. My teaching style is based on each student's needs. Some students like to learn at a fast pace and others like to go slower. I listen carefully and ask questions, basing instruction on what creates success. My approach is to make learning fun.
