I'm a passionate trumpet instructor who, more than anything, enjoys teaching others and spreading the greatness of music. In 2021, I graduated from Clovis West High School with the desire to become a music teacher and more specifically to teach trumpet lessons. I am currently attending Clovis Community College and plan on transferring to Fresno State to pursue a degree in music education. Young students begin their instrumental journey with some basic theory lessons while we simultaneously explore the physicality of playing trumpet. From there, we begin learning fundamentals--exercises on the instrument, with breathing, and mental practice--which are reviewed with the student from beginner to professional. Solo repertoire and etude-work will be assigned to give the student the practice of performance but also to challenge and assess them on specific aspects of their journey on the instrument. When teaching students who are young, I would first start off with the fundamentals. For example, I would explain music terms to them and develop the new language from there. Once the student has a basic understanding of music, I would then talk about the Circle of Fifths and encourage them to participate in events like concerts or festivals in school.
