I have years of experience teaching elementary, high school, and college musicians. Students under my tutelage have experience significant musical improvement, as well as the satisfaction which comes from working towards long-term goals and achieving them. I do my best to cater to each individual students needs.  For younger beginning studetns, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, or whatever materials they are using in school.  For all of my students, even the more experienced ones, I work on building fundamentals and extending techniques.  Fundamentals are an essential cornerstone to build all other aspects of music upon.  Also from the very start of lessons, I like to have the student working on actual music, whether it be a simple song or more advanced solo repertoire, the goal of these lessons should be to better make music and have fun doing it! I am a patient teacher and encourge students to work at their own pace. If we need to spend more time on a certain concept or technique than one lesson allows, we will. I cater my teaching to the students needs as an individual and their goals. I am interested in fostering their inate musical abilities, as well as the musical skills they wish to obtain. If the student is in a school instrumental program, I always defer to the band director as the student spends more time with them. I will take the students progress seriously, and expect them to do the same, so I make sure the expectation to practice is clear. Read More
