I am both an avid teacher and an avid performer. In addition to my teaching experience, I have performed in concerts across the US, as well as throughout Europe. I bring a wide variety of performing practices into my lessons, having experience in both vocal and instrumental performance and teaching, as well as involvement in over 80 theatrical productions. I began teaching privately in my sophomore year of high school. I had always known that I wanted to become a music teacher, but this is the time of my life when I really started discovering my potential in the education community. Students that I have worked with have achieved Superior Ratings in OMEA Solo and Ensemble events, have been part of various honor bands and extra-curricular groups. For all ages and all instruments, you will be working on scales, chord progressions, transposition and reading of music for piano; scales, lip slurs, technical etudes, long tones, transposition and reading of music for trumpet; and scales, slurs, technical studies, transposition and reading of music for flute. For all instruments, there will be one key book that will cover everything you need to know. If you work with me on a longer term, getting the book would not be a bad idea so you can practice at home, although it is not required by me. Read More

I am a patient teacher and encourge students to work at their own pace. If we need to spend more time on a certain concept or technique than one lesson allows, we will. I want to make sure that they understand throroughly before moving on to the next concept. At the same time, I want my students to feel challenged in their lessons so that they will be willing to go home and put the work in during their practice time. Read More
