Well, I am born and raised in Austin, Texas; known as the live music capitol of the world. Growing up here, it was natural for my interest in, and dedication to music to be fostered. Currently, I play all over town with various bands, as well as teach one-on-one lessons. I try to be as involved and supportive of the music scene as possible. My goal is to allow students to pursue their musical interests while also making sure a solid foundation is being established in terms of the way music actually works (music theory) and what types of motions allow for efficient and safe production of sound (technique). I create my own custom lesson plans upon each students needs/wants. After an assessment of skills I create a plan to help the student harness in on the things that need work and polish the skill sets that are already there. Usually, I pick a good series of lesson books that we will work through together. If it is an entirely new student I work at things one at a time to make sure we're getting in all the basics and fundamentals needed for the more advanced skills. Read More

I get a thrill when I can see one of my student's develop a passion for music. It is fulfilling to see them understand the fundamentals of jazz and to know where the music comes from. I like to give a brief history of the style and song to develop an emotional connection with the music being played.
