I am a music teacher with experience in teaching students in grades 4-12. I have taught all woodwind and brass instruments, percussion, and ukulele lessons. I also have experience with directing plays and musicals. I graduated Slippery Rock University with honors and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree, Kent State University with a Masters in Music Education degree, and an currently attending Point Park University for my Ed.D. in Leadership and Administration. The best thing is when my students are invested in their own progress, because I can help provide the needed skills to grow at different paces. I have been a student of local Philadelphia musicians like Eric Apelt, Al Rochlin and Bill Whitaker. I only had one student thus far in my teaching career but i can truly say that i taught him so much during our experience together. The best part about teaching a student, and i'm going to restate what i said earlier, is that both grow in the process. It only took me a year to teach that little kid how to play properly. I stay flexible to the individual students' needs. I try to keep the student engaged and ask many questions to help them become their own best teacher. I will give assignments and create goals but also want the student to be self motivated. I will not be overly strict when it comes to practice. I like to have the student approach music with joy and curiosity. I like to keep the learning positive and help the students find their voice within music and find what motivates them intrinsically.
