Piano: For beginning students who are children, I start by teaching out of the Faber Piano Adventure books. I find that they focus on the more exciting aspects of music, such as sight reading. This is different from the Bastion books which I think focus too much on more challenging (and boring) methods such as articulation. My goal is to take the spark that was ignited inside of a young musician when they first began playing music, and nurture it into a raging fire! Heidi was born in Sunnyvale, California and began her musical studies at the age of ten, studying French horn. She graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy. Heidi studied horn under Douglas Hill at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her undergraduate degree in music performance. She completed her Masters degree at the University of Maryland-College Park and studied with Gregory Miller. She has participated in various summer festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, the Las Vegas Music Festival, and the National Orchestral Institute. Read More
